New green deal to create 250,000 jobs in insulation industry

250,000 new jobs will be created in green industries according to Chris Huhne , energy secretary who said at the Liberal Democrat conference that a "green deal" would lead to workers being employed to insulate 26 million homes in a bid to be the "greenest government ever".

"By stopping this waste, we can make big savings on bills, and use them to pay businesses for the cost of insulation. This is the green deal."

The Government anticipates 246,000 people in employment within the energy efficiency sector in both installation and supply chain jobs by 2030.
