If you would like to have solar panels installed on your home, you will need to make sure that the installer has been correctly certified to carry out the work.
In the UK the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) is there to ensure that all installers are properly competent and that your installation is of the highest quality.
If you would like to take advantage of the Feed-in-Tariff following your solar panel installation you will need to use an installer who is MSC certified. This means that even if you install your solar panels yourself (which you are entitled to do) you must get a MCS installer in to check over the work and supply a certificate.
Finding an installer under the MCS is very straightforward. Installers who wish to become accredited will apply to do so to the Certification Body. They will undertake assessments to ensure they are up to standard and then will be added to a list of all certified installers in the country. As a homeowner, you simply need to go on the MCS website and look up an installer in your area.
