Solid wall insulation
For solid wall houses or cavity walls unsuitable for cavity fill, there are alternatives. Up to 45% of heat loss in solid walled houses is conducted through the walls.
If your house was built before 1920 it is likely that the external walls do not have a cavity. A quarter of the houses in the UK have solid external walls.
Modern materials now allow your walls to be insulated either on the inside or the outside by coating the wall with a layer of material that reduces the rate of heat transfer.
